And The Cards Keep Coming
Hello Artists: Only a week or so to go before we compile all the artwork and start to prepare for print. Just wanted to share a few more of the stunning cards that keep landing in our inbox. Huge thanks to all of you for all your hard work and efforts. Keep the cards coming!

The Final Countdown
Hello Artists!!!
We finally have all the cards contracted out to artists all across the country and US territories beyond our border. FANTASTIC! Now is the fun part as we wait for final art to arrive. We have 13 pieces in so far and the deck is turning out to be stunning. From now on, we will try and post images on the blog a few at a time. Don't be hurt if you don't see yours up on display, it will be seen by thousands when the decks come out.
As final art comes in, we will be checking it for basic compliance with the guidelines and will try and correct what we can (if necessary) before sending them to the printer. Inevitably, the printer may need to make small crops or adjustments in order to match the templates exactly. If we need to do anything drastic (rarely!), we would always consult with you first.
Similarly with your BIOS, we will need to edit many of those down to fit onto the website. Once the site is up and running (post production) you will be able to read our edits and make any changes you'd like.
Don't forget, the deadline for final art is February 27th, 2012.

Some Good and GREAT News!
Hello Artists:
A couple of new and exciting announcements.
First of all, we have been searching for a viable (and affordable) way to produce the cards here in the USA (as opposed to Overseas) and I have just received a great quote from a printer here so I think that at least the USA Project Deck will be our first mainland deck!!!
Second of all, we are currently re-printing our Portland deck. We sold out of 5,000 in only 18 months. It's a record! .......AND It looks like our Washington Deck may be equally as successful
SOOOOOO.......We decided to not only produce our USA Project Deck this spring but we will also move forward with The Chicago Project Deck as well as The NYNY Project Deck. All for release this Spring 2012. It's going to be CRAZY!!!!
Finally, If you have any artist friends to recommend for the Chicago or NYNY decks, have them send us their info as well as their websites so we can take a look.
We have about 5 cards already submitted - FABULOUS! - but don't panic, you have til February 27th to finish your contributions.

First Card Art Is In!!
Over the holidays we have received our first submission of final card art! It's wonderful. Thank You VIRGINIA! As soon as a few more pieces are submitted, we will start posting them to the blog so you will get a taste of how the deck is coming along.
Don't forget that the current deadline for submitting final card art is February 27th, 2012.
Finally, we are trying to find qualified artists with a web presence in Puerto Rico and The US Virgin Islands. If you know of any, please send us their info as soon as possible to info@artinhandcards.com. Currently, we are asking that the artist actually live in these locations but as the deadline looms, we may loosen our rules a bit. SO....... if you know of any artists and you aren't sure where they actually live, send us their info anyway just in case.

The Use Of The Digital Suits & Numbers
A few of you have noticed that previous 'City' decks have stylized suits and numbers designed by the artists. This is a trend we started with our first deck, the Charlotte deck, and by refining our guidelines in subsequent decks, we managed to create increasingly functional cards. However, we have decided to try a different avenue for the National deck for a few reasons.
First of all, we are going to market this deck to much larger national retailers and felt that if we were ever going to opt for standardized markings in our commercial decks, this would be the time to try it. Secondly, we created an institution deck last year that used the standardized markings and surprisingly (to us anyway), this did not detract from the artistic integrity of the images. SO....the decision was made.
I know you all will be absolutely thrilled with the outcome. We have been looking over the styles of all the contracted artists and are getting SO EXCITED about how this deck is coming together.
Be sure to send any questions you have about the process and we will aim to answer them as best we can here on the blog for all to see. No question is a bad one. This can be a confusing process and we want to make sure you are all totally comfortable with every step.

The USA Deck Update - New deadline for final artwork!
We are getting closer and closer to finalizing participation in our latest deck but we are still waiting for confirmation from artists in a few states. Due to the fact that the holidays are fast approaching and we want to give you artists as much creative space as possible, we have decided to extend the final artwork deadline to Monday, February 27th, 2012. You are all more than welcome to submit your artwork at any point leading up to the deadline, but for those that need the extra time, we wanted to make sure you had it.
